Experience the ultimate throwback to the 70’s with North Yorkshire Moors Railway during its Awesome Seventies weekend (17-19th June).
Each year the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) hosts an Awesome Seventies Weekend combined with the Heritage Diesel Gala, to form one of the biggest weekends of the attractions 2016 summer season.
The event will see the arrival of an array of different engines that are sure to grab the attention of railway enthusiasts. From Class 55 ‘Pinza’ to Class 26 ‘Tom Clift’, not to mention Class 40 D213 ‘Andania’ and a range of other locomotives. The attraction is encouraging all guests to get into the spirit and throw their best 70’s glad rags on, and what’s more, those that wear platforms with their outfits will avoid a platform charge when attending the event!*
As well as this, there will also be much more entertainment over the weekend, sure to put a beaming smiles on visitors’ faces, whether they’re old or young, and no more so than at Levisham Station, where popular rock band, The Glamned, will be on hand belting out timeless classics. Not only that, the station will also have its own real ale bar, serving up the perfect pints to sip on during a summer day out with the family.
Fun is also on the menu at Pickering and Goathland Station, where there will be a 70’s pop up museum and 70’s display vehicles respectively, with the latter looking forward to welcoming DJ Lynn, who will be on the 1’s and 2’s for the majority of the weekend.
