The first Aycliffe Festival starts on Friday 3rd July and runs through to Sunday 12th July, with a series of events organised for the people of Aycliffe by the people of Aycliffe. Community groups, organisations, residents’ groups and individuals have worked to provide events and entertainment, with something for all age groups.
The Festival has been co-ordinated by Great Aycliffe Town Council, which has given grant sponsorship to assist a number of the events provided. Many of the events are free or carry only a nominal charge and take place in a whole range of locations across the parish of Great Aycliffe.
The Festival commences on 3rd July at the Oakleaf Sports Complex, with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) fun event, organised by Aycliffe Youth Council. Throughout the ten day period there will be live music, summer fairs, a pipe band concert, workshops, concerts, competitions, a Community Fair at the Leisure Centre and much more.
The Town Centre is supporting the Festival with two exciting days of live acts, prizes, games and music in the Town Centre, with Star Radio. The Festival will draw to a close with a Picnic in the Park – bring your own food to the Town Park, Burn Lane.
The finishing touches are being made to the programme of events. If you would like more information please contact the Festival Co-ordinator, Marie Robinson, Tel 01325 300700 or check the website
