Newton Aycliffe Youth Football Club is making good use of their goalkeeping coach Craig Lowe. Craig has been a coach with the club for a number of years but has specialised in coaching young goalkeepers. Craig has been attending a number of the clubs training sessions over the past few weeks to work with that team’s goalkeepers. His hard work is paying off because there are a lot of happy smiling goalkeepers on a Saturday and Sunday morning. U10 Eagles: 8 Norton & Stockton Ancients 1. Back to winning ways this week and it was all down to hard work from the lads, disappointed from last week’s defeat the lads started well and from the beginning worked hard for each other with some nice football and finished off with some good team goals and a couple of cracking individual goals. Ashton scored 4, Jack got 2, Noah scored 1, and Joe got 1. Man of the Match was Ashton.
Under 12 girls 9 – 1  Consett A great day for football on the 4G pitch at Consett’s Northern League ground. The girls improved throughout the game but it was 15 mins before the opening goal as Kate whips in a cross and Alex slots at the back post . Olivia then jabs the ball over the line for Aycliffe’s 2nd. A great run by Hattie across the edge of the box and an unstoppable screamer into the top corner. Then just before half time Olivia weaves passed 3 defenders and slides home for her… second HT 4-0. The girls were dominating the play and with close control and spreading the ball to the wings, 5th goal came courtesy of Kate after a weaving run from Alex. A mistake from the keeper and Hattie finds the corner followed with her completing her hat trick. Then we switch off to a through ball and Consett find the corner for their goal. Then as Brook is moved to centre forward. The birthday girl, drives into the box and shoots wide of the keeper for her opening goal for the u12’s. A lot of quality football in the second half as Aycliffe played for each other and passed round the opposition and put so many dangerous balls into the box FT 9-1 Trimdon 1-1 u13 Falcons The Falcons travelled to Trimdon with a full squad after the holidays. Aycliffe tried a new formation in the first half but the lads struggled a bit to implement it. Aycliffe created a few chances but could’ve conceded 3 or 4 goals if it wasn’t for some very good goalkeeping from Cameron Vaudrey. Half time 0-0. Second half Aycliffe went back to our usual formation and created much more in terms of chances.  They were caught out with a long ball counter attack with Trimdon opening the scoring. 1-0. Aycliffe kept our heads and dug in to force an equaliser through Tom Jasper. Aycliffe couldn’t find the winner but a decent point in the end. Good attitude from the lads to not give up and retrieve something from the game. Man of the match was Cameron for his saves that kept us in the game in the first half. Well done lads. N&S Ambers 0-3 U14 Falcons Well done to the lads as the Falcons kept up their excellent start to the season. Good goalkeeping and defensive display to keep a clean sheet and supporting our midfields and forwards who all worked very hard. Goals: Cameron Cook (2) and Freddie Cockburn with Charlie Hirst picking up the Man of the Match award.
