Under 14 Eagles 1 v Spennymoor Town Knights 1
Playing against a very talented Spennymoor side, it was always going to be tough game. Slight change in formation to combat their quick striker, which worked well for The Eagles. Absolutely delighted with the effort and team spirit from the lads, they showed a lot of character to take a point from a really tough game. Goal from Hamza. MOM to the whole team, as they were all awesome. Well done boys!
Under 14 Girls 0 v Darlington FC 2
Unfortunately, the team fell to another close defeat. The girls played well and worked hard throughout. With only 12 players available and then going down to 11 just after half-time, it was always going to be difficult. Hopefully everyone will be back, fighting fit, next week.
POTM: Paige who played left back, won plenty of 1v1 battles and looked a natural in that position.
Under 14 Girls (Sunday) 3 v Whickham Fellside Warriors 1
Our final game in the cup first round mini-league saw us needing a win to progress to the semi-final. The girls knew the task and performed their roles brilliantly. We went 1-0 down but reacted superbly to come back and win 3-1. Whickham threw everything at us in the second half, but we defended brilliantly and scored a 3rd to make sure. Goals from Romilly (2) & Eveie. Star players: Charli & Rom.
Under 13 Boys 1 v Riverside Juniors Whites 7
Playing against an unbeaten side who are top of the League, we knew it was going to be a tough game. Riverside took the lead mid-way through the first half, but Josh struck the equaliser from James’ corner before the break. The wind picked up in the second half, not in our favour, which resulted in some freakish goals, but the lads never gave up & battled on until the end. MOM’s: James & Jacob.
Under 13 Girls 1 v Chester le Street Amazon Avengers 0
A tough & scrappy match but we grabbed a great goal through Amy, to set us on our way. We then dug deep to hold on for the clean sheet. POTM: Holly.
Under 12 Girls 2 v Ryton & Crawcrook Albion 0
We looked the stronger team from the very start and dominated possession throughout the game. It took us a while to find our way through a well organised defence, but a slight formation change at half-time was enough to get the goals we needed to secure all 3 points. POTM: Hannah.
Under 9 Eagles v Stockton Town
Aycliffe Eagles put on yet another great team display and deserved the victory with three great strikes from Floyd R, his first goal thundering into the top corner! The lads continued their great passing in the second game with another top corner strike from Harry M and great play from Adam L to set up Harry M for his second. Harry L then scored from outside the box. All the lads should be very proud!
Under 8 Eagles v Coulby Newham
A competitive game for the Eagles, closely contested throughout. The Eagles started brightly and were pressing the opposition really well, resulting in an early goal. The team continued to press making several chances but couldn’t find a killer touch. At the same time Coulby grew into the game and the Eagles had to put in some solid defensive work. Two late goals conceded, as tiredness crept in but a great effort from all.
