Last week colleagues from the Japanese Embassy visited the UTC South Durham with sponsor partner Hitachi Rail Europe. The college has a specialism of engineering and advanced manufacturing, raising the aspirations of the students in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) vital to the UK economy.
Staff and students were thrilled to welcome their visitors and colleagues from the embassy toured the UTC, meeting staff and students and tried out some of the engineering equipment.
The visitors met some of the next generation of engineers who would like to enter into the engineering sector. Year 10 and Year 12 students showed the visitors around the building and encouraged them to try some virtual welding!
UTC South Durham is a state funded Technical School and College with a specialism in Engineering and Advanced Manufacture on Aycliffe Business Park.
