As the Triathlon season ends members of Aycliffe Tri Club are still out in force. Sunday 20th September saw races taking place in sprint events at both Teesdale and Hartlepool.
Teesdale started with a 400m pool swim, 20k bike and 5k run. First back for the club was Andrew Sedgwick in 1hr 16min giving him a fantastic 2nd place in his age group, next and giving her 1st place in her group was Melaine Rowland not only a 1st place but also a course PB finishing in 1hr 36min, Mic Casey finished in 1hr 47 which gave him a well-deserved 3rd place in his age group and another PB. James Wilson finished his first triathlon in a very respectable 1hr 57min.
Over at Hartlepool Graham Atkins and Dan Halladay were racing at the Hartlepool Big Lime Sprint Triathlon. Starting with a 750m open water swim in the marina, followed by a 20k bike and a 5k run Dan Halladay was first over-all out of the water but ran into mechanical difficulties on the bike but this didn’t stop Dan finishing in a blistering 1hr 15min. Graham Atkins was close on Dans tail throughout the race and gave an excellent performance finishing in 1hr 16min and 4th place in his age group.
On Sunday 27th Jez Ladbury travelled to Warwickshire to visit family, whilst Jez was there he decided to take advantage of a local sprint triathlon which he completed in 1hr 25min.
