Hannah Featherstone (15) and Matthew Bradley (16) from Sedgefield 75 ASC competed at the annual ASA National Team Championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield on Sunday the 19/10/2014. Hannah and Matthew were selected to be part of the Northumberland and Durham team and travelled with the rest of the team of 22 swimmers early on the Sunday morning..
Matthew competed first as part of the boy’s 16/17 year old individual medley team where he did a personal best for 50M breaststroke of 29.72 seconds. He then swam the 100M breaststroke in a time of 1.05.98, 0.40 seconds outside of his personal best time.
Hannah’s first swim was in the 100M freestyle where she swam a personal best time of 57.03. Next Hannah achieved another personal best time of 1.04.65 in the 100M backstroke. Finally she competed in the girl’s 14/15 year old individual medley team achieving a time of 30.20 seconds for the 50M backstroke leg.
Both Hannah and Matthew were very pleased with the day and the Northumberland and Durham team came 10th out of the 20 teams that competed in Division 1 of the event.
John Moore Head Coach was very pleased to have had two of his competitive swimmers at the event, which is one of the highlights of the annual swimming calendar. This shows what hard work and training can achieve and continues the club’s tradition as one of the North East’s   respected competitive swimming clubs.
