Club runner Dave Blewitt participated in the Parc de Boulogne in Paris on Saturday 11 July. This is a Park Run in Paris and it was Dave’s 102nd Park Run. The course is a 5k road race and it was a hot 30 degrees. He completed the course in 22.29 and came in 5th place overall. On Tuesday 19 July 18 club runners turned out for the Crook relays. They formed six teams of three, with each
runner tackling the 2.2 mile long multi-terrain course. First team back for the club and 3rd overall was Tracey Surtees, Lee Wren and John Surtees in a time of 43.58. Next and placing 4th overall was Mark Wade, Michelle Zamir and Richard Campbell in 44.20. They were followed by Dave Blewitt, Peter Smith and Cyd Denise in 51.39; Rob Nicholson, Michelle Jane, and Dez Fielden in 51.58; Ste Smith, Rob Jayne and Angela Barrett in 52.32; and Alan Wilks, Trevor Needham and Penny Johnson in 52.51. On Wednesday 20 July Aycliffe Club runners participated in the Prince Bishops Durham City 5k and 10k races. There
were approximately 2000 runners taking part in the event. A 5k and 10k race started simultaneously with one lap for the 5k race and two laps for the 10k race. Although it had rained earlier in the day it was extremely warm on the undulating course. Alan Wilks participated in the 5k and completed the course in 22:49 and placed 2nd in his category of male over 60. In the 10k event Richard Johnson was first back for the club in a time of 43:19. He was followed by Trish Kay in 52:43, Lisa Sheldon in 58:50 and Judith Porter in 1:08:04. On 23 and 24 July a team of eight club runners entered The Continental Thunder Run. This is a 24 hour endurance relay with over 3000 runners taking part. It is a really tough 10k, hilly cross country course snaking through the grounds of Catton Hall in Derbyshire. Each team will run as many laps of the course as they possibly can in the 24 hour period. Aycliffe runners included team captains Lee Wren and Dez Fielden, Ste Smith, Penny Johnson, Dave Blewitt, Dean Barclay,  Michelle Scott and Michelle Zamir. The team totalled 280km, with each team member running 3 or 4 laps (30km or 40km). The team placed 27th out of 239 teams
