Whilst the government strategically plan the next social distancing rules under the current covid-19 pandemic, and Newton Aycliffe Sports Club plan to open the clubhouse on July 4th using government guidelines to protect the public and staff, Newton Aycliffe RUFC are being proactive in planning for the coming new season.

All rugby clubs in England are guided by strict rules and regulations from the RFU. The road map for the community rugby game has reached phase B. This allows small groups of up to 6 players to train in preparation for match fitness. Club coach, Bob Malvern, is keen to get the current crop of players down to Moore Lane to start the training programme for the 2020/21 season. A trial session will run on Wednesday 1st July with a select 6 to test all the safety precautions before all available players can start pre-season training under the strict guidelines on subsequent Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

The league structure and start dates have still to be finalised. This said, the club are now actively recruiting new players.
