Local independent learning provider, ITEC North East’s recent Ofsted inspection awarded a Grade 2, recognising them as a good provider, effective in delivering outcomes that provide well for all its learner’s needs, developing good workplace and technical skills through NVQ’s and Apprenticeships.

ITEC’s Managing Director, David Baker and his senior management team were delighted to receive formal acknowledgement of the ongoing progress to successfully meet the needs of both learners and the 200 employers with whom they work. “Inspectors have given ITEC staff credit for their performance and good teaching providing examples of excellent one-to-one coaching and their hard work to successfully establish good, caring and supportive relationships with learners.

Since the last inspection in 2009, success rates for learners overall have improved and in 2010/11 were several points above the national average.   We’re committed to building upon this success in delivering Apprenticeships in Information and Communication Tech-nology (ICT), Business Administration, Customer Service and Sales.”

Ofsted reported many of ITEC’s learners have taken on extra responsibilities at work and have been awarded pay rises or achieved promotion which is excellent news for local young adults considering an Apprenticeship as a route into successful employment and career progression.

Staff at ITEC’s three North East training centres saw a steady rise in the numbers of young people applying for their Apprenticeship vacancies, increasing by nearly 40% during August to October 2012 compared to the previous year which is extremely encouraging for a growing number of local employers keen to recruit and develop ITEC’s Apprentices in the workplace.
