Aycliffe’s very own Craft Brewery – The Steam Machine – is going from strength to strength. Their modern beers are now available in over twenty unique speciality craft beer bars, bottle shops, and restaurants from Whitley Bay down to Huddersfield, including the Michelin-starred Raby Hunt.
Now though, Aycliffe drinkers venturing to “The County” at Aycliffe Village can finally have a taste of Steam Machine’s signature 5.2% IPA as it’s intended: cold and sparkling, straight from the keg.
“We are delighted to be able to offer Craft Keg at The County; it’s not the sort of thing you’ll find in most pubs in the area, and it’s great helping a young business trying to do something a bit different,” said Stuart Dale at The County.
Nick Smith, one of the brewery’s founders was equally enthusiastic: “Even though we are distributing all over the North, there’s something wonderful about seeing our IPA as a guest Craft Beer in our very own local. We can’t think of a better place to enjoy it, sat in “The County” with friends, looking over the village green.”
On bottle sales at Woodham News Shop and the new activity centre ROF 59, Nick added, “The response to our bottles has been overwhelming too, we seem to have an army of loyal local drinkers! They are going through hundreds… Cheers everyone!”
Steam Machine currently have four diverse beers available, ranging from a 5.2% lager/ale hybrid ‘San Franciscan Steam’ to an Earl Grey infused 6.5% IPA ‘Afternoon Tea’.
They told Newton News they have plenty more in development to challenge the taste buds of those Craft Beer drinkers looking to drink something a little different.
