The family owners of Ramseys Garage on Aycliffe Business Park have pledged support for the Darlington and Bishop Auckland Hospitals MRI Scanner Appeal. They want to get behind this community project which will bring untold benefits to the whole area and are contributing money from each MOT Test they complete at their garage.

Syd Howarth Editor of Newton News and a member of the fundraising NHS Trust Committee visited Jill, and her two sons Ian and Elliot to discuss the project and they were delighted to be part of the appeal, seeing the many advantages the two new scanners will bring to patients in our area. The new modern, most upto-date Philips equipment can detect Prostate and Bowel Cancer without invasive biopsies. They are also more efficient, bigger, less stressful for patients, and produce clearer images than the 18 year old equipment currently in use.

On hearing how the new scanners will also save the NHS Trust a £1 million a year, Ramseys agreed it was a “No Brainer” and encourage others to get on board and donate to the £2.5m appeal. Every penny helps and local organisations and businesses are requested to support the appeal. Contact Syd on 300212.E-mail: syd@newtonnews.co.uk
