Junction 7 are hosting a Food Festival and Craft Fair in the town centre on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of June from 10am to 5pm.
Although we organise regular small events every year, this year we wanted to organise a larger event that not only provides activities for the local community, but also provides for a wider audience to raise the profile of the area, promote local business / leisure activities and generate income for the town.
I am the event organiser and I am planning this festival with the support of other members of the group, Junction 7 and Aycliffe Radio, who are each taking specific roles. It will be funded by Junction 7, GATC and local businesses. It is not expected to be a way of raising money for Junction 7 but more a way for Junction 7 to give back something to the community which supports their work.
The event will be FREE to attend*.
There will be a mixture of food and produce stalls in the town centre and craft stalls in one of the empty shop units.
A celebrity chef, Sean Wilson, will be holding demonstrations in St. Clare’s rear hall (*a small charge of £5 will be made for these) and, using the ethos of Junction 7, will demonstrate using surplus food in three ways: vegan, gluten free and general. He will also have his own cheese stall in the town centre.
Music will be provided by Aycliffe Radio and there will be a performance area which will hold displays from dancers, gymnasts and choirs as well as a talent show for all ages.
We hope that everyone will come and enjoy what promises to be a great day and the first of many more to come.
