Two Newton Aycliffe families have pledged to take part in an annual charity walk after organisers changed the event to allow families to participate.

Maggie Hannan, and children Emily, 7 and Lucas, 5 will be joining in the 3-mile walk with family friends Jane Davison and daughter Erin, 7. She said, “We’ve supported Butterwick Hospice for years, and they always have great events for the children, but we’re excited that this year the walk is open to men, women and children and we can all take part in the Twilight Walk.”

The Twilight Walk, in aid of Butterwick Hospice, is now open to men, women and children and takes participants through the beautiful Raby Estate. The 3-mile sponsored event is a chance for family, friends and colleagues to enjoy an evening of outdoor fun and fresh air while the scenic route gives walkers stunning views of the castle and surrounding estate.

Event organizer, Julie Nisbet said “The walk was becoming more popular with a greater demand, and we felt the time was right to open the walk to everybody. Lord Barnard very kindly agreed to host our event at Raby Castle, and the response from the public so far has been phenomenal. We still have groups of friends taking part, but now men and families can also join in.”

The Twilight Walk takes place on Saturday, 15th June at 6pm, and entry fees are £15 per adult, £10 per child (under 5’s free) and a family concession is available. For more information call Butterwick Hospice on 01388 603003 or visit the website www.butterwick.org.uk/twilightwalk13
