The youth tour of Scotland is a major event on the racing calendar attracting teams from all over the UK and Ireland.

It is 4 stage race held over 3 days on closed roads and circuits in Perthshire including time trials, kermesse and city centre criterium, producing high level racing in tough, testing conditions.

Newtonians Ralf Hodgson and Alex Evans  were chosen to compete in the team representing the North East. The team of 9 boys, 3 girls, support crews and helpful parents travelled to Perthshire for the weekend. HQ and ‘hotel’  was Strathallan School at Forgendenny.

Ralf and Alex both gained pleasing results and  are encouraged to compete further and develop their cycling skills. The  team coped with the highs and lows of national racing with dedication, determination and amazing teamwork returning to the North East with a wealth of experience, and a few bumps and scrapes.

Ralf and Alex wish to thank Colin of ‘Cycleways’, Newton Aycliffe, for his utmost support and important cycle preparation for this event.
