Dear Sir,
As one of the founder members of the Cricket, Club in 1956/57, I am pleased to see the team are still performing well. I came to Newton Aycliffe in 1955 after serving as a Petty Officer in the Royal Navy. I was promoted by my company and moved down south in 1961. In 1999 I moved back and bought a house in Ryder Court near the Woodham Golf Club. At that time I was a very keen golfer hence Ryder Court. Another founder member was Harry Harding who had a fancy goods shop on the town centre. We also formed a Bridge Club and each week we chose one other members house to play at. The town was quite small, compared to today, and we therefore made our own entertainment. I am now approaching 91 years of age so if any of the team from 1957 are still around I would like to share a few memories over a glass of beer.
Sincerely
George Oakley – Contact 01325 320696 / text 07752 866985.
