One week to launch and our team of volunteers and presenters are looking forward and working hard behind the scenes to get things ready. There are currently 16 volunteers who have committed to helping Aycliffe Radio by presenting shows or working on the admin side.

Please remember Aycliffe Radio is an online/internet radio station, which means (for the moment) you can only listen to the station via an internet connection.

The studio has now been relocated to the BBC (Blue Bridge Centre), where we have set up the equipment including a live broadcast centre console (courtesy of Greenfield College), vinyl mixing decks and the all important computer station for pre-recorded sessions and online scheduling.

As most of our volunteers are gainfully employed or otherwise engaged during the day most of the sessions to be played on air will be pre-recorded and scheduled to play at the allotted time.

As our volunteer presenters are busy people we still have slots available for any budding DJ’s to join our team, especially anyone with a novel idea for a show.

Some future ideas for the station will include recorded Church Services, request shows, local bands, choirs, school concerts, festivals, etc.

The station is hoping the local community will rally round and support the station by tuning in to listen to your favourite music for which a schedule will be listed on our website www.ayclifferadio.co.uk, we also encourage you to pass on your event information, news and maybe even sponsor a show, a DJ or the station.

Apps have been developed and currently being upgraded to include more information, these will be available from the Apple Store and Google Pay Store. There are many ways in which you can contact us, via Facebook, Twitter, email info@ayclifferadio.co.uk, text 07512 253333, phone 07512 253333, website www.ayclifferadio.co.uk, app and of course Royal Mail: Aycliffe Radio, c/o BBC Blue Bridge Centre, St. Cuthbert’s Way, Newton Aycliffe DL5 6DS.

If you are interested in sponsorship or know someone who may be, please contact the station via the means above – the costs for doing this will be low and the benefits will include a banner and link from our website, regular mention via the presenters and publicity in the Newton News.

To get us started the local residents are invited to choose the first song to be played on the station when going live at 12noon on Friday 1st December. If your song is chosen you will also receive a mention and a prize – so listen in. Other songs which are requested for this position will also be played during this first session with a mention to the sender. Send your request via text to 07512 253333 or email.
