Collections at your Convenience

A local charity are appealing for donations of stock to help support their affordable furniture scheme in Newton Aycliffe.
The DISC Furniture Scheme, based at Horndale Avenue on Aycliffe Business Park, is open to the general public and aims to help families on low income furnish their homes at low cost.
Business Manager, Julie Nisbet, said “As families on low income continue to struggle to furnish their homes, we take in saleable items, refurbish and offer it at affordable prices. Please think twice before throwing anything away. We currently need furniture, white goods and children’s furniture, and are able to collect free of charge. Collections are at your convenience and can be arranged at a time and date to suit the customer.”
The scheme is open to everyone however, and provides excellent opportunities for people to purchase ‘distressed’ furniture, with the aim of upcycling and experimenting with the growing ‘shabby-chic’ style.
The furniture scheme is managed by More Time UK Ltd, and it’s staff pride themselves on offering a flexible service with a consistently high quality of work. In 2014, the enteprise was shortlisted for Employer Of The Year at the Aycliffe Business Park ‘Make Your Mark’ awards.
Volunteers are also paramount to the success of the project, and there are a range of opportunities, from customer service skills, sales and admin, to furniture operatives and drivers mate.
If you would like to donate good quality, saleable furniture to the project, collections are free. To arrange collection of items, or to request a volunteering application form, contact Pat Smith (Furniture Coordinator) on 01325 731294 or email furniture@moretimeonline.com
