Peter Barron, a Resident at HC-One’s Defoe Court care home in Newton Aycliffe, was thrilled when his wish to see how cars are made came true with a tour of the Nissan factory in Sunderland.

The team at Defoe Court wanted to help make Peter’s wish come true, so they reached out to Robert Sanderson, a Relative of another Resident at the home who kindly arranged a personal tour of the Nissan factory for Peter and his fellow Residents.

The tour showed the different elements of the car manufacturing process, providing details about how the car is assembled and tested from start to finish. Residents were excited as they watched cars being built right in front of their eyes.

A great time was had by all at the Nissan factory on Friday 22nd November, especially Peter who was amazed to discover that it only takes the company two hours to build a car.

Defoe Court Home Manager, Sarah Todd, said: “I am so pleased that we were able to make Peter’s wish to visit Nissan come true, I would like to say a big thank you to Robert for his help arranging the trip.”
