1407 (Newton Aycliffe) Squadron Air Cadets have hit the new year running with an excellent set of results at Durham and Northumberland Wing’s Inter Squadron X-country.
It was a cold and wet day, making for muddy conditions underfoot. Our cadets battled through though and, with some squadron spirit and a lot of determination, competed well. Strong performances were given by every cadet who ran. Several of our cadets have made it through to the next round of the competiton at Lancaster, where they will represent the Wing.
At the end of the event, our Under 15 Boys finished 2nd and our Under 17 Men came in an impressive 1st place. Overall 1407 Squadron came 3rd. All of the cadets had a fun day despite the weather, with some interesting choices of clothing.
All of the staff are very proud of the cadets’ achievements and were pleased with their excellent behaviour at the event.
As well as the cross-country, cadets have already been flying, target shooting and done initiative exercises this year. There are plenty more activities coming up including gliding, camps, navigation and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme. If you’re aged between 13 and 18 and are interested in joining then see our website www.1407aircadets.org for more info.
