Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club’s 1st team, sponsored by Franks the Flooring Store had a tough four wicket victory over fellow promotion candidates Rockliffe Park 1st XI in the NYSD 2nd division. The visitors were asked to bat first and found Aycliffe bowler Jack Slatcher (sponsored by Dean & Tina Greaves) in scintillating form as he finished with his career best first team figures of 7 for 63. Michael Howe also bowled well taking 3 for 37 as Rockliffe were dismissed for 101 from 24.2 overs. In reply, Aycliffe had to work hard for their runs and were thankful for good contributions from Adam Gittins (34 runs from 63 balls), Luke Telford (14 runs from 21 balls) and an unbeaten 19 from 14 balls from Michael Howe as they reached their winning target after 30.4 overs.

The second team played superbly and were unlucky not to get the club their second consecutive double victory as Rockliffe Park 2nds held out for a home draw in the NYSD 4th division. Electing to bat first, Aycliffe piled up the runs scoring 201 for 2 in their allotted 40 overs. Captain Neil Bancroft lead the way with a superb unbeaten 82 from 75 balls, including eight boundaries and five sixes and he was supported well by George Slatcher with a career best 70 not out from 95 balls including ten boundaries. The pair set a new club 2nd team record in the process as their unbroken 3rd wicket partnership reached 144 when the innings closed. In the homeside’s reply, excellent bowling from 13 year old Matty Greaves (3 for 39) and a couple of wickets each from Neil Bancroft and Lewis Gimple was not quite enough to win the game for Aycliffe as the Rockliffe innings closed on 155 for 8 from their allotted 40 overs.

The u15’s team played well, but were still beaten away at Stockton by just 14 runs in the NYACC Cup. Stockton chose to bat first and scored 116 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, captain Lucas Pilling batted superbly, scoring his 2nd unbeaten half century in consecutive matches and in the process set a new club record for the most runs in a season for the u15’s team of 285. Harry Wright chipped in with 13 as Aycliffe were restricted to a very respectable 102 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Our u13’s team were beaten away at Hartlepool by 8 wickets despite a decent display by the Aycliffe team. Choosing to bat first, Aycliffe scored a respectable 75 for 4 in their 20 overs thanks to some good batting by David Robinson who scored 16 runs and Jai Sander, who scored 15. In reply the home side reached their winning target after 13.4 overs despite a wicket each for Aycliffe bowlers Charlie Cayless and Brandon Grant.

The u11’s team played really well, but were still beaten at home to Norton by 19 runs. There were good performances from Dan Heaton, who took 3 wickets for 1 run and Will Dearden who took 3 wickets for 11 runs and also held a catch and contributed a great bit of fielding when he hit the stumps from a direct throw to run out a Norton batsman.

The u11’s put in another good performance but were unfortunately also beaten, this time by 14 runs at home to Stockton. Harrison Pearson and Alfie Spensley both bowled well for Aycliffe each taking three wickets and Adam Shaw top scored in the Aycliffe innings with ten runs
