Due to the Coronavirus lockdown Aycliffe Boxing Club have been told by England Boxing and the Government to cease all training sessions. Unfortunately the Aycliffe Club, who provide superb training to our community, still need to pay the rent in full each month.
Now as you may already know, Les and Paula run the club at zero profit, in actual fact it probably costs them money from their own pockets to keep the long running, hard work and dedication going.
For 35 years these amazing people have given the people of Newton Aycliffe their time and knowledge of the well loved sport of boxing and I feel it is so sad to think that the potential of permanent closure is a very real possibility.
Les and Paula recently launched a GoFundMe appeal via Facebook, and I am writing to appeal to local residents to donate whatever they can afford to the charity.
To put this into perspective, if every person in Great Aycliffe donated £1 each then Aycliffe Amateur Boxing Club can fight another day and be in a strong position to overcome diversity at this very hard time.
