Aycliffe residents, Nigel Blackburn and Michael Hay, are taking time out to arrange a fundraising event in aid of children’s charity CHILDREN with CANCER UK.
Their Coast to Coast Bike Ride, is on 20 – 23 June 2013, a 136 mile bike ride from Whitehaven to South Shields.
Nigel has organised similar events in the past and says “This is my second year of organising this type of bike ride and have decided to do it for charity. Last year was great but we are hoping for much better weather this time, although I doubt anything will be able to dampen our spirits once we get started. We have a team of 33 in total this time around and we can’t wait!”
Nigel, who works for Carillion Construction Ltd and Michael Hay who assists in the Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre Football Club, chose to raise funds for CHILDREN with CANCER UK having raised large amounts in the Great North Run previously. CHILDREN with CANCER UK is the leading national charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. The charity funds life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer and works to protect young lives through essential welfare and campaigning programmes.
