Margaret Gent of Belford Way has been awarded a Paul Harris Felowship, Rotary’s highest community honour, in recognition of her service to the club and community over many years.
The surprise award was made at the annual President’s Night held at Hardwick Hall. Margaret was too overwhelmed to make any comment, but afterwards said how honoured she was to become a Paul Harris Fellow.
Part of the entertainment was an impromptu performance by “The Rotettes”, three lady Rotarians Mary Waine, Jill Thompson and Margaret Fenwick who sang well known numbers with a fire theme, sending up the president who was a Fireman before he retired and moved to Newton Aycliffe.
