Avon Court Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Avon Court celebrate 40 years this year, the home was built in 1979, but was officially opened in September 1980 by the Rt. Hon. Lord Barnard T.D.

Avon Court was originally part of the Royal British Legion Housing Association and then became part of Housing21.

The residents decided to hold a Garden Party to celebrate and Mrs Mary Dalton, Newton Aycliffe Town Mayor 2019/20, kindly agreed to open the event.

All donations and money raised, a total of £330.40, was donated to ‘Help for Heroes’ as suggested by the residents of Avon Court.

Mary Harnett has lived happily at Avon Court for 23 years and has seen many changes and has also made many friends.
