Newton Aycliffe based manufacturer, Husqvarna, auctioned a Pink Automower® recently, raising £2,100 for Breast Cancer Care.

To mark Breast Cancer Awareness month, Husqvarna recently auctioned one of its market leading, innovative robotic lawnmowers to raise money for charity. Husqvarna’s Pink Automower® was designed to raise awareness of breast cancer and was the focus of a recent online auction resulting in a £2,100 winning bid which will go to Breast Cancer Care.

This year’s Pink Automower® was won by 65-year-old Martin Moran from Armagh, Northern Ireland. A self-confessed hater of gardening, Martin was very pleased with his robotic lawnmower which will now take care of the lawn for him.

Alongside the Pink Automower® online auction, staff at Husqvarna in Newton Aycliffe raised money by dressing in pink and donating to Breast Cancer Care, bringing the total figure raised up to £2,283.

Known for pioneering the robotic lawnmowing industry in 1995, this year marks the third in which Husqvarna has raised money for Breast Cancer Care, and the second in the form of an exclusive Pink Automower®. The robotic mower is the only one of its kind to be produced in the UK this year.

On winning the mower, Martin commented: “I’ve known a number of people who thankfully survived breast cancer however I’ve lost people close to me to other cancers. I’m happy to have won the Pink Automower® but, more importantly, I’m pleased to give this money to such a worthy cause.”
