Ropner Park was the venue for the penultimate event in the Stockton Winter Trail series of races over 5K. A mainly flat course and ideal conditions resulted in some fast times for the club.
Newcomer Shane Doe had a brilliant debut for Aycliffe, finishing 38th in the time of 21:46, but John Surtees was first home for the club, 4th in 18:09, followed by Graham Atkins, 15th in 20:19 and 1st V/50 and Dave Blewitt, 27th in 21:15.
Next to cross the line was John Burnside, 29th in 21:20, and Tracy Surtees was not far behind, 32nd in 21:25, followed by Steve Smith, 41st in 21:55 and Sandra Collins, 54th in 22:32.
Alan Wilks was once again 1st V/65 in 23:07 and is almost certain to win the series prize in his age group.
Gary Minns was next finisher, 71st in 23:37, followed by Paul Stretton, 117th in 26:31 and Dave Mackenzie, 119th in 26:45.
In the Harewood House 10K near Leeds, on a course which included some stiff hills, Mark Wade finished 20th in a field of nearly 2000 in the time of 39:34 and Geoff Miles completed the course in 53:56.
In the Dalton Dash 10K, an undulating and challenging course in the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds, Dave Mackenzie finished in 55:31 and in the Surrey Half Marathon Naomi Kellett achieved a PB of 1hr:43m.
