On Wednesday 27th November Woodham Academy held its annual Apprenticeship Awareness final which saw over 150 Year 9 students working alongside a business from Aycliffe Business Park.  Their task was to lead a research trail into the opportunities available to them locally through the apprenticeship route and to examine career progression routes within the companies.
The six tutor groups battled it out in the live finale with each group producing a collage and a verbal presentation.  All presentations were to an exceptionally high standard and the use of digital technology was used to enhance the final performances.  The competition was won by Gestamp Tallent who were represented by Yasmine Hynes, Jaydene Chappell, Adam Byrne and Ryan Harris.
‘The high quality of the presentations we saw on the evening made it incredibly difficult to choose an overall winner’ said Adam White from the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership, one of the three judges of the competition.
Woodham Academy would like to thank the six companies represented in the challenge; Finley Structures, Gestamp Tallent, South West Durham Training, A Tech Training, The Bignall Group and Ebac.
