I would like to bring to the attention, of Newton News the ongoing attempts by developers to build at Woodham, adjacent to the A167, with the current development proposal being rejected and, now being appealed by the developer on Tuesday 17th April at 10am at the Work Place, Aycliffe Business Park, off Heighington Lane.
The development of this site is an ongoing battle with local residents in Woodham who now, and in the past, do not support this housing development.
The appeal notification reads nothing short of an attempt to bully the local council who have the full support of local residents in fully rejecting this application for housing development.
This is now the 5th attempt in the last 10 years to try and force a development on this beautiful stretch of land which is rich with wildlife, and natural environment enjoyed by all as part of The Burn Woodham Walk. An attempt for any houses (never mind 430 houses) would simply destroy that environment.
Can I ask all readers to be aware of this proposal appeal, and give their full support to the local council to continue rejecting such proposals destroying our local areas of natural beauty.

Newton News received no notification on this Public Inquiry which is annoying as this is important to our readers. We have printed the notice without permission for the benefit of all interested parties.
Readers will see it is held at 10am on a Tuesday when most people are at work.
We have discovered it was advertised in the Northern Echo which only has a few hundred circulation in Newton Aycliffe whereas Newton News goes to every household.
This is a typical bureaucratic mistake where they just place a statutory notice to comply, rather than judge which is the best media contact.
