Dear Sir,
Nigel F Boddy asked a lot of questions about Brexit. Allow me to answer some of them for him. Nobody, to my knowledge is suggesting that we should send back any people from other EU countries who are already living and working here, or stopping them from returning if they go on holiday, or go to visit people in their home country.
Nobody wants to stop immigration either. All the Brexiteers are asking for is the right for the government of the day to be able control immigration, if they so desire. If one of the political parties wants to put a commitment to totally open borders in their manifesto, then fair enough.
I should imagine the rules and procedures for applying for British Citizenship will be the same as they are now for any immigrant e.g., good character, ability to speak English, resident for 5 years, have possessed an indefinite leave to stay for the last 12 months, have not broken any immigration laws etc. Nobody will be forced to take up Citizenship.
On Nigel’s final point, we are not voting for Farage, Johnson, or Gove, or any other individual or Party.
We are simply voting on whether or not we want to leave the EU. You’ll probably have to wait until 2020 for a say on who you want to run the country, and who you trust on immigration.
