On Saturday, 2nd July, we will be holding the second Annual Memorial Football Tournament in honour of our friend and ex player at Newton Aycliffe Sports Club, Andrew Firth. Last year’s event was very successful and helped raise much needed funds for local charities. We are hoping this year will be no different. The event will be held at Newton Aycliffe Sports Club, within the football grounds. We will be raising money for Man Health and Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group – both of whom will have stalls available on the day and are ready to offer any support to anyone who needs it.
Doors open at 11.00am (entry is £2 on the door), with some live music to get the day started, and the football tournament commencing at around 12pm. The tournament will consist of four teams, Firthy’s Family and Friends, Newton Aycliffe Sports Club, Cobblers Hall Over 40s and The Roundhouse. Last year’s winners, Firthys Family and Friends, will kick off the tournament against Newton Aycliffe Sports Club.
A food kiosk will be open and there will be a beer tent along with children’s entertainment in the form of face painting and balloon modelling. There will also be raffles and other draws held on the day.
Once the football is finished the music will continue. The live entertainment will be provided by local artists Chris Mardula as well as Baz Elkin and Mille Bradley, with a selection of great covers as well as some of their own material. Come down and join us for a great day for a worthy cause and help us raise as much as we can for the chosen charities.
