Gary Ridley Durham’s Assistant Chief Police Officer told the Town Council last week that crime in the county dropped by 14% and in Aycliffe the figure was 17% lower.

He also reported the detection rate in Aycliffe was the highest in the County at 43%.

There has been a 37% reduction in Anti Social Behaviour brought about by meetings of all services to solve problems. Compared with 1100 incidents of ASB last year, recent figures show a reduction to 731.

Overall people indicated an 89% stasfaction rate with the service provided by the police.

The future of the old Police Station is undecided and nothing will happen until the police premises in the town is agreed. It is hoped this will be concluded before the end of 2012 and then demolition and sale of the land will be discussed.
