Dear Sir,

Two weeks ago my son kindly took me to Aldi in his car to allow me to get a large amount of shopping. It then came as a shock when a week later he received a notice fining him for parking in Aldi car park. Apparently he had not entered the car registration number in the machine. I honestly thought that you only needed to enter the number if you were doing other shopping in the Town, but that it was not required if you were only shopping at Aldi. My 40 minutes shopping spree costs an extra £40 which must be a wonderful profit for Parking Eye who control the car park. We have appealed against the charge and have yet to learn the outcome but did the same thing a week later whilst under the same misapprehension. Please warn anyone shopping at Aldi to ALWAYS enter their car number regardless of what else they may be doing.

Name and address supplied.

Editor: Aldi’s car parks throughout the UK are managed by Parking Eye. Shoppers who have been stung with an unfair charge  should complain directly to customer.service@aldi.co.uk. Please note also it is a “charge” and not a “fine” which in most cases customers ignore.
