Is your child interested in coding and programming? Do they know more about computers than you or would love to learn?
Woodham Academy is launching a new after-school, computing session for Year 5 and Year 6 students. The sessions will focus on writing and understanding code as well as programming Micro:bits which have been commissioned by the BBC.
But what exactly is coding? Coding is what makes it possible for us to create computer software, apps and websites. Your browser, the apps on your phone, social media and websites – they’re all made with code.
Learning coding empowers you to do many things including developing websites, becoming a career coder or even starting a technology business. Students will be able to use this knowledge in a variety of career paths and most importantly, be able to understand the technology shaping the future,
The first session will take place on May 11th at 3:30pm – 4:30pm; the Woodham Science Sparkies Club will take place straight after this session at 4:30pm – 6:00pm so students are more than welcome to stay for both clubs. The next Nano Bit Club will run on June 29th. For more information please visit the schools Facebook page or contact info@woodham.org.uk.
