An Administrator at a local residential care home has been awarded for proving exceptional service and support to residents, families and staff in a national awards ceremony.

Michelle Young, who has worked at Rose Lodge care home in Newton Aycliffe for eight years, took home the ‘Behind the Scenes Hero’ award at the 2018 Maria Mallaband and Countrywide Care Awards. She was cheered on by colleagues as her award win was announced at the awards gala evening in Leeds.

The awards, now in their 4th year, recognise exceptional practice from staff who are committed to improving the lives of people living in residential care.

Judges were impressed by her commitment to delivering outstanding hospitality and her excellent rapport with families, residents, visitors and healthcare professionals. She was also commended for going above and beyond in her duties, such as in training new Administrators joining the Care Group and assisting in organising and hosting community-focussed events at Rose Lodge including their popular ‘Come Dine with Me’ lunch club.

She received nominations for the award from staff, residents, families and healthcare professionals alike.

Mrs Young Said: “I’m so delighted to have won and have been overwhelmed by the support I have had from everyone here at Rose Lodge.”

Rose Lodge, a residential care home for the elderly and people living with dementia, was awarded ‘Home of the Year’ at last year’s awards as a result of an impressive CQC inspection history, 9.6 out of 10 review score on leading industry review site carehome.co.uk and varied programme of activities, events and outings organised and led by the Activities Coordinator Team.
