Lottery funded local residents’ group ACORN have commenced their 2018 excursion season with a visit to the vibrant city of York.

Cathedral, Railway Museum, Jorvic Centre, the Shambles or shopping. There is always plenty to do in York and ACORN members took full advantage of the fantastic spring weather to explore narrow streets and quirky little emporiums selling everything from antiques to old fashioned sweet shops.

Thanks to ACORN for organising the trip and to those people who joined us on our mini adventure.

PETTING ZOO

Acorn residents ever popular PETTING ZOO to be held at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre on APRIL 7th is this year sponsored by Councillors Eddy Adam and Kate Hopper. The 2018 event sees the addition of a third Petting Zoo making it the biggest petting zoo event so far. With bouncy castle, Tombola and a selection of stalls there is something for all.

The PETTING ZOO will be opened by our MP Phil Wilson at 10am so come along, bring the kids and have a great day.

FLOWER TUBS

Residents in the Silkin Way, Stead Close and Lilburne Crescent area will have noticed the appearance of decorative flower tubs supplied by the ACORN team as a result of the “ITS YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD” programme.

Special thanks to John Hannah, Paul Thompson, Ray Bewley, Arun Chandran, Jillian Hillary and Ken Robson for their input and effort
