Dear Sir,
What a fantastic Father’s Day this year turned out to be. I had the honour of bearing the Olympic Torch along Church Street in Shildon, and what a wonderful reception we all received from the crowds of people who lined the route. It was a fantastic atmosphere they created, and a big thank you to all for coming.
The organisers of the event did a wonderful job, as did the Police and security staff who really got into the spirit of the day, high fiving people along the way.
The camaraderie and excitement felt by all the torch bearers on the bus was an experience not to be missed and we all knew we were taking part in a once in a lifetime event never to be forgotten.
A special thank you to my wife Margaret, who sponsored me, my family who came from different parts of the country to support me and to all my friends for their good wishes both before and after the event.
Although the day passed in a blur I have many photographs to give me a lifetime of great memories of a very special father’s day.
