Huntsman FC played Three Crowns at Simpasture Park last weekend turning up in their new tracksuits.  The gaffer was forced to make 4 changes from with Dave Neale, Callum Musgrave and Carl Bates replacing the unavailable Williams, Richardson and Farley, with Neil Dodds returning between the sticks.
The conditions were ideal and Huntsman set the pace early on, winning a corner within the first few minutes. Anth Cox delivered a lovely ball to the front post which was flicked on by Mike Sproates and headed home by Callum Musgrave. Not content with a one goal lead, M Sproates picked up the ball on right, found his way to the byline and put it on a plate for Shaun Sproates who, unfortunately, found the tennis courts!
Some good link up play churned a couple of half chances but it was only a matter of time before the lead was increased. The ball was played to M Sproates who skipped past 2 and saw his effort parried across the goal line, only to be bundled in by Carl Bates. The third soon followed, S Sproates with some good footwork on the left slipped the ball across to his younger, sharper, brother who side-footed into the net.  Anth Cox added to the lead just before half time with a very tidy finish from inside the box for a 4-0 half time lead.
The second half saw Huntsman dominating possession. M Sproates, who had already disposed of one left back, shuffled his way to the byline, cut the ball back to Anth Cox who couldn’t convert from 6 yards. Despite Dave Neale suffering from a rare bout of illness, he was still able to leave the opposition keeper who was looking sick as he watched Neale’s delightful chip from the edge of the area sail over his head into the net to make it 5.
The 6th followed, with a lovely cut back from S Sproates to Carl Bates who guided the ball in from 8 yards.
Goals are coming like buses for Bryan Durr at the minute. After waiting so long for his first he managed to find 2 in 2 weeks and what a goal it was. 25 yard left foot drill – you just don’t save those. He played up to the crowd with a Ravanelli style celebration after finally seeing his ‘shoot on sight policy’ come off. It was substitute Jamie Herd who made it 8 with a  lovely finish from outside the box, the keeper left rooted to the spot. The final goal of the game came direct from a corner, M Sproates whipped it in and the keeper just simply couldn’t handle it. 9-0. Game over.
Great display from Huntsman both defensively and going forward. Man of the Match went to M Sproates, who grabbed a brace and tore both left backs to shreds. Unfortunately his in-form older brother couldn’t find the net, despite being the only striker on the pitch.
The Huntsman are at home to Yates of Darlington on Sunday 24th hoping to maintain their 100% record and record a 10th successive league win. We look forward to seeing you there.
