Ellie Nicholson aged 8, lives in Newton Aycliffe and attends Aycliffe Village Primary School.
The family were watching the news one night when there was a story about skin cancer, and Ellie got quite upset at the story and felt that she wanted to raise money and help victims of the disease. She talked about it and Ellie chose to raise cash for Cancer Research.
Ellie is very fit and with her Granda Paul, being an experienced climber, the family decided she would climb Scafell Pike as her challenge.
She completed the climb on 23rd September in 5 hours, with some awful weather conditions at the top. She outclimbed her mother Gail and did not complain once. The family are so proud of Ellie for being so kind hearted and determined. Ellie’s target was to raise £100 and so far has raised over £300, with donations still coming in.
