Over 70 Christmas dinners, including some deliveries, were completed on Christmas Day.

The day was a great success, but in a sad way, that people are so lonely, which was highlighted several times during the day, one lady actually cried when she was taken home. She had enjoyed herself but the thought of being back home alone upset her.

As a group we have decided we will be putting on more events and hopefully a weekly event to help combat the loneliness that so many people endure. We also noticed various age groups attended the dinner; loneliness is not just for older people. The intergeneration was also captured and noted during the day.

The afternoon started with Carol singers encouraging people to join in. Santa greeted people. A three course meal that consisted of a choice of homemade soup or prawn cocktail, followed by a traditional turkey dinner, then a selection of desserts were offered.

A Christmas quiz followed dinner, as well as a visit from Santa, everyone received two gifts each. All that attended enjoyed the day and we would like to give a big thank you to everyone that contributed in some way. Also a big thank you to the volunteers that gave up their Christmas Day to help; a big thank you to Junction 7 group members who, as always, put people first for their community.
