3M, which has a manufacturing plant at Aycliffe, has been acclaimed as one of the world’s most ethical companies for the third year running.
The science-based technology company’s Aycliffe site employs around 320 people manufacturing respirators for worker safety and products for the vehicle aftercare market.
It is one of just 131 companies worldwide to be honoured for its ethics and good practice this year in the annual rankings produced by the prestigious Ethisphere Institute.
Ethisphere chief executive Timothy Erblich said: “3M’s 100-plus years demonstrate a sustainable business advantage that is supported by its values and commitment to ethics and innovation.
“The company clearly understands its role in the broader global business community and recognises the value of operating with integrity.”
Aycliffe plant manager Colin MacLeod said the site was proud of the recognition. “Our people are at the core of 3M’s commitment to ethics and integrity,” he commented. “We believe in creating trust with customers by doing business the right way, every day.”
