The Stephenson Way year 5/6 football team had an exciting end to their football league at Greenfield on Thursday 23rd October. When they turned up for the last meeting of the league this term, they were in joint bottom position. The boys knew that they had a mountain to climb but they were determined to do their best.
They played really well as a team and won their first match 2 – 0, gaining them their first 3 points in the league. At this point there were two teams ahead of them but there was still a hope that they might get into the medal positions. To do this they had to win their last match and score a number of goals (as it would come down to goal difference).
The team were really excited for their last match and every player put their full effort into the game. Their hard work was rewarded with an 11 – 0 victory! The team managed to get into 3rd position and came home with bronze medal and huge smiles on their faces. Well done boys!
