Woodham Academy have been successfully awarded £9,975 from the Lottery fund Awards for All to build a new outdoor classroom. The purpose is to provide active learning opportunities for students in an outdoor space.

Local company Dig-it has been working with English teacher Josie Geatches to design a classroom that includes a bespoke garden that is beautiful yet functional. Ms Geatches said: “It is a wonderful opportunity for students to enjoy nature and learn at the same time. The project will take place in a garden within the schools’ grounds and enable students to take an active role in the formation of a wild flower garden, butterfly garden and fruit beds to be used as part of Enterprise projects.
