I am delighted to have been selected as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Sedgefield. Whilst there is currently a Labour majority of 6,843, given the recent encouraging results in the County Council Elections and the Mayoral Election, it really is all to play for. I do hope local residents in this beautiful constituency will elect me as the first Conservative MP since 1935.

People on the doorsteps are telling me that, for them, Brexit is the dominant theme for this election. Our area voted around 58% in favour of leaving the EU, as indeed did I, and since the result many who voted Remain are saying we need to come together to get on with the task at hand. Your vote on the 8th June can now give Theresa May the strong mandate to negotiate the best possible deal for the United Kingdom.

Jeremy Corbyn, meanwhile, has said he would consider a coalition of chaos with the SNP and the Lib Dems to try and prevent the Conservatives from getting a majority in Parliament – the latter two Parties being vehemently opposed to leaving the EU. It is also worth considering that “Open Britain”, an organisation which is currently  aiming to unseat pro-Brexit MPs, is openly backing the incumbent Labour MP for Sedgefield and encouraging
teams of pro-European activists to campaign for him here in the constituency.

My campaign team and I, meanwhile, have been busy in Newton Aycliffe delivering thousands of leaflets and speaking to hundreds of residents so far. Already I’ve been thrilled with the excellent response we’ve received. With four weeks to go, I’m looking forward to having more discussions about the things that matter most to you.

Employed by a North East company in the technology retail sector previously worked in Parliament and is Standing
for election with a focus on education, Brexit, local economy, and digital infrastructure within the wider context of seeking to represent the interests and concerns of the residents of Sedgefield constituency.

I was the first in my family to go to University. I enjoy watching the football, video gaming, and cooking. I also like to run, and really want to do the Great North Run one day, and hopefully tie it into fundraising for a cancer charity that’s close to my heart.

My partner grew up in a new town so my impressions of Newton Aycliffe are that I was predisposed to like it. It has a charm of its own that really speaks to me and we are looking to rent a property here. It represents the best of the new town ideal – aspirational, good housing, with people working hard and wanting to get on.
