Students at Aycliffe UTC are preparing to start work experience to increase their overall knowledge on the work place between 19th – 23rd June. Students have gained placements in a variety of different settings including 3M’s, Stephenson Gobin Ltd and Chinatool.  Josh Gamsby, Y10, said, ‘I’m a little bit nervous, but mostly very excited about my placement.’ Students had to find the information and acquire the places themselves which gave the Year 10 students a sense of maturity, initiative and responsibility.

It made them understand the skills required in writing a CV, a covering letter to the company they wanted to go to, and finding out all details before the deadline to ensure they were fully prepared. Some students have also committed to giving up some of their school holidays to accommodate the requirements of companies where they are going.
