Woodham Academy Dance Academy students recently took part in a dance master class led by a London professional. The opportunity arose thanks to a new partnership between the school and Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College. College is at the forefront of the Year 11 Dance Academy members’ minds, with dance being a promising option for many of the students. The newly developed link with the Sixth Form College in Darlington gave students the opportunity to train with former QE student, Hannah Mattinson. The talented student is currently in her third year at London’s Contemporary Dance School. Hannah led an outstanding contemporary dance session organised specifically for Woodham Students. The master class included several routines all of very high standard. The students picked up the complex routines quickly and thoroughly enjoyed the session. Woodham Academy Dance Academy will return to QE this month for the college’s Open Day where students have been invited to take part in another master class which will be delivered by Dance Nouveau. Woodham Dance Academy recently held trials for all year groups, with an exceptional number of attendees. Throughout the year the Academy will attend several dance competitions across the country and a variety of events, as well as The Dance Showcase held at Woodham Academy in March and The Great Big Dance Off.
