UTC South Durham student, Lee Reynoldson, has been accepted into the Arkwright Scholarship Programme. The scholarship will support and sponsor Lee through his A-Level studies for the next two years and follow his career journey wherever it may take him.

Lee said, “I was very pleased with my GCSE results and I am now enjoying my A-level studies at UTC South Durham, I have chosen to study Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science.

“I wasn’t aware of the scholarship until I was approached by Catherine, one of the Vice Principals at the UTC. When she told me what it was and how it could support me and my future so I jumped at the chance to apply. The interview process was tough, so I was over the moon when I found out that I had been successful and cannot wait to get involved and learn with the programme and other scholars from across the country. “

Principal, Tom Dower, said, “Lee has done particularly well here at UTC South Durham and to have also secured a place on the Arkwright Programme will undoubtedly open many doors for him into potential careers. We are very proud of what he has achieved and are looking forward to working with him and the team at Arkwright Scholars in his current two years of study here.”

Tom continued, “What we do here at UTC is focused on a unique combination of academic courses and technical qualifications alongside developing key workplace skills that our employer partners tell us they are searching for.”

Applications for year 12 studies at UTC are currently open, and booking for the next open evening is available on the UTC South Durham website: www.utcsouthdurham.org – For additional information call 01325 430 250.
