Dear residents of Aycliffe East

I will be standing in the ward as your local UKIP candidate.   I was born and bred in Newton Aycliffe and have lived here for over 35 years and currently serve as branch chairman of UKIP Sedgefield and I’m also on the committee for Aycliffe Village Hall. I can pursue all areas of concern in the residents interests irrespective of UKIP party policies. Looking out for matters concerning social care in the community for the elderly and vulnerable.

We’ve had Durham County Council making cuts to the provision of care in the community, the controlling Labour group on the council have closed Durham Light Infantry museum and executives on the council have been awarded big pay deals even the CEO of Durham County Council is paid more than the Prime Minister while at the same time have put council tax up by 1.99%. UKIP believes council tax should be low as possible while at the time essential local services are protected, pay deals for executives and ‘politically correct’ jobs be slashed.

UKIP will abolish the cabinet system in local government and replace it with a committee based system as we feel it’s far more democratic.  The development of housing on green belt should be put to binding local referenda vote. Local people such as the elderly, vulnerable and veterans should have priority when it comes to social housing.

If you would like to discuss local issues with me I can be contacted on mobile 07477 440362 or alternatively email jgrant295@gmail.com.
