The Turbinia, has been voted as ‘Darlington Campaign For Real Ales’ pub of the season. Owner Gary said “This is a great accolade not just for the pub and staff, but also the customers that have supported us over the years. This is an honour, because we were chosen by ‘CAMRA’ members who are very passionate and knowledgeable about the quality of cask ales,  taking into account the quality and condition of our beers, but also the massive choice we make available to our customers.” “Last year people sampled 132 different beers from 81 different breweries, sourcing beers from all over the UK, and this year we are well on target to beat that.” “As well as searching countrywide for interesting beers, we are keen to support local breweries, with ‘Yard Of Ale’ (Ferryhill) ‘George Samuel Brewing’(Spennymoor) and ‘Mithril Ales’ (Aldbrough St John) as part of the ‘LocALE’ scheme, featuring on the bar. We stock up to 4 ales,  a mix of styles, including bitters, porters, pale ales, stouts, cask lagers, and more, so there is always something for everyone”. A very important part of the pub calendar is the twice yearly Beer Festivals, the next of which, is this weekend featuring 16 craft ales & 2 craft ciders, with FREE entertainment all weekend.
