The annual Options Summer Festival is taking place at the Pioneering Care Centre in Newton Aycliffe from 12-4pm on Thursday, 17th August. The festival is being organised by a group of adults with learning disabilities who attend Options day service at the Pioneering Care Centre and is sure to be a great day for the whole family with live performances, strong man competition, bungee run, penalty shootout, bouncy castle, face painting, police interceptors, stalls, games and much more.
In previous years, members have took part in a 12-hour sponsored Danceathon at the festival to help raise money. This year they will be taking part in a surprise Fancy Dress Flash Mob where they will perform a very special dance routine at different times throughout the day, but you won’t know when it’s going to happen! If you would like to sponsor the members to take part they have a Just Giving page – https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/options-flashmob.
Options is a charity-ran, user-led day service promoting independence, choice and social inclusion and is available to people over the age of 18 with a learning disability. The members of Options have been working hard to organise the event designing posters, making festival decorations and planning the event from start to finish.
The festival will take place from 12-4pm with a BBQ and disco on the evening from 5:30-8pm. The festival is free entry and open to the public, however if you would like to attend the BBQ and disco on the evening, tickets are available at £3pp. There will also be an Afternoon Tea served at the festival between 13:15-14:45 at £4pp. If you would like to book in for the BBQ or Afternoon Tea, please contact the Pioneering Care Centre on 01325 321234 or email options@pcp.uk.net. All of the money raised from the festival will go towards new resources and activities for the day service.
